Jury Duty

July 21st, 2010 by admin

I’m serving jury duty this week for the King County court system.

A couple things you should do if you are called. Fill up your iPod with good music and audio books.
Take lunch money and get yourself a good lunch. It’s your only time to get out of “the room.”
Review the docs on fija.org and learn how your decisions are more important than almost anything in your life.

Beer Goggles commission

For Tony Millionaire.

After seeing the first pair of beer goggles I made, Tony mentioned that he would like a pair. Since I got the idea from his Drinky Crow show, I graciously made him a pair.

Retro-Futurist/Victorian Sci Fi Ocular Beautification Device

September 10th, 2009 by admin

Based on the premise that the world looks better after a few drinks, Professor Fate has created an

Ocular Beautification Device

Make everyday bright and beautiful

Make everyday bright and beautiful

Ocular Beautification Device

Ocular Beautification Device

Worn like a set of goggles, the device renders all that you see more beautiful than before. Your old steam carriage will appear to be the latest model. Your spouse will appear to be more beautiful than on your wedding day. A woman’s jiggle fun parts will appear larger and tighter, as will a mans “Man servant”. Your squalid home will become a castle, and all your meals will be fit for a king.

Ocular Beautification Device: Makes everyday a bright and shiny one.

Thanks to Tony Millionaire and Drinky Crow for giving me the idea.

I learned something about espresso machine boilers today.

September 4th, 2009 by admin

Most large espresso machines have a copper boiler that is rated to 250 psi.  This could be very handy information for building model steam engines.

Built a set of Firefly/Serenity Pistols

September 2nd, 2009 by admin

Serenity/Firefly “Aim to misbehave kit”

I bought a set of Firefly/Serenity models from Wilesco on Ebay. I put them together and posted photos to my flickr account.

Mals Pistol:

Looks like a 1851 or 1858 Remington revolver, or Colt Buntline blackpowder revolver, with a clip instead of a cylinder. I’ve read that the one of the mock-ups in the show was built around a snub nosed “taurus model 85″ pistol. This is a very sturdy model, and is suitable for cosplay. I would love to make a bronze copy of this.  It would be heavy to carry, but would also feel more like a real pistol.

Jayne’s Pistol:

The “Jayne” gun is based on a real 19th century confederate officers pistol lmgtfy.com/?q=lemat+revolver.

The body of the pistol is built from two parts, with the cylinder on a post. I bought a metal replica of the Lemat revolver, and will dress it up like this. I’d rather have a sturdy one to cosplay with. The resin one will remain on display at home.

The kit also came with a grenade, and a walkie talkie/communicator. You can get your kit at Wilco models on ebay.
